Next Meeting...

Stand by for an update. Meetings are also on hold for now.

Greetings fellow club members

Will we be done with COVID 19 in ’21? Will there be a show season this summer? All good questions and certainly ones for which we would all like answers. As our trusty steeds sit in our garages or storage areas getting much needed attention in the off season or collecting dust, I think we all are hoping that 2021 will be a better year. It has to be! Watching the sun go down at 5pm in the winter sure gives one a longing feeling for long, warm Summer days, and cruising with the windows open and a bright sky above. Whose blood doesn’t stir at the thought of firing up that Galaxie and heading out to take in the beautiful Oregon countryside. Couple that with the thought of walking a show and staring at those rolling beauties from yesteryear and a wide, dreamy smile comes across my face. Though 2020 had its share of disappointments, I for one am counting my blessings. We had a few club activities and outings, which were entertaining and fun. We certainly did some very worthwhile things like collecting toys and donations for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and there was plenty of good weather for cruising, even if we may have done it alone. On top of this, both my wife Judy and I contracted COVID around Christmas and recovered nicely. Our cases were mild and we are grateful that we can look back on that experience like we dodged a bullet...literally! Most of what I have read says that things will get better by summer and by next winter some degree of normalcy will return. Of course we all wonder what “normal” will mean. I suppose some things will never be the same, and that’s not all bad. Some will be permanently able to work from home going forward, and for many that will be a great convenience. Traffic may be impacted for the better, but I have my doubts on that one for the longer term. In the meantime, we will be masked up for months to come at a minimum. Hey, as long as we can have shows and get togethers and those at high risk get the vaccine, the world can be a good place. Here’s hoping you and yours have a safe, exciting 2021 and we can twist some wrenches and polish some of those fine finishes together. We know Galaxies will always rule, we just want them to rule outside and free! We start this latest edition once again with some stories on member’s cars, and there are some beauties. There are also some interesting bits to keep your oil circulating. Enjoy!
